70s Party Dress for 2014

I write this blog as if many followers are reading, even though I'm pretty sure no one is. I mean, there are a zillion blogs to read, many with better shit than mine. But, just in case someone's looking, here's what this is: My New Year's outfit. In tmy last post, I showed pictures of a bunch of possibilities of dresses to remake and said I'd reveal my choice in my next post. So, you can exhale now, here it is.

It's not a refashion. Normally, this is where I'd come up with an excuse as to why I couldn't finish my remade dress in time, but that's not the case! I did finish my dress, even without the needle in my brand new sewing machine! The problem was the temperature. I needed something I could layer and wear with tall boots, if necessary. My refashion would not have been practical for a 9 degree evening.

The dress is a vintage, polyester, mid length. I bought it over the summer when I was on a dress hoarding binge. The shinyness of it and that bodice make it something that needs no refashioning. I just styled it up to be warm enough and look cute. The sparkly feather necklace was another Savers find from a summer trip to the Nashua NH store and I think it was like, 5 bucks, so I must've really wanted it. The sequin purse is something I've had for a long time and it gets to come out at weddings and such. Same with the satin, bejeweled shoes. I remember buying them at TJ Maxx several years ago, for either a WAW Anniversary party or another New Years.

Anyway, just as I was about to take these pictures, my tripod broke. The thing that holds the camera to it broke off. That made getting my shots a little difficult. Also, it pissed me off; I need that damn tripod to make my crappy pics slightly less crappy. In some of these shots, one can see the irritation on my face. But that picture up there on the left? Total accident, my wayward camera captured most of my bedroom and I my body was in the corner of the shit. For shits and giggles, I cropped it down and got freakin' pic gold. I'm saying that I look good.
